Hello, well my name is Daniel and I have a wife and a little girl.
We have also recently acquired a Siberian Husky, he is now 10 weeks old and got his last lot of jabs today, he has been with us just over a week now and has settled in really well, and he is great with our 2yr old daughter.
Well were in the process of starting his training so I'm sure I will be posting questions left, right and centre, so please bare with me guys.
I just want the best for my little man.
Thanks Dan

Hi Daniel
Welcome to the forum.
Enjoy the puppy hood stage as much as you can as they grow up far too quickly.
Any problems or questions just post away someone will be able to answer them.
Paul.

He has settled in very well and his fav toy seems to be the TV remote when he manages to get hold of it, lol.
Have any of you guys ever fed your sibes on horse meat??? i have done a bit of reaserch on different food types and this has come up a couple of time.

He looks great
You'll have to set some rules now though so anything he's not allowed to chew or anywhere he's not allowed to go should not be allowed. If you leave this it will make things harder later on.
For ethical reasons I don't think I'd feed my 2 horse meat but as far as I'm aware feeding the meat would be fine however I believe the bones are too dense so could not be fed. Check this with Paul or Ivan but if I'm right then this would mean that the ratio of bone would have to be adjusted in later meals. Not being funny but do you have a source for the horse meat and is it cheaper than everyday meats or is this question out of interest as you've read others feed it?

Hi steve the horse meat is from a local vet, he does not always have it available but on the unfortunate occasion that a horse may need to be put down, due to a broken leg ect that does not heal so the horses are not just slaughtered for the sale of the meat, instead put to use and sold on, i buy can get the meat at £15 for 15kg no bones just meat.
i think i have been very lucky with him so far as i have not had the need to be very strict with him, he does as he is told 80% of the time.
Thanks Dan

Depends how the horse is put down. If its a bolt then its fine.
If its euthaniased then it would be no better than commercial food.

Hiya fella don't be nervous everything will be fine, i have 3 puppies one is 6 months old and two are a week short of six months old, i put Odin on raw the night he came home, and the other two belonged to a friend they were also put on raw as soon as they came to stay with me as she never got chance to put them on raw.
Storm was weaned on raw, our lab cross was on raw the night she came home, and silver was put on raw at 16 weeks old which actually saved her life.
If someone had said to me feed a dog raw food 4 years ago I would have said YOUR'E ASKING ME TO DO WHAT !!!!
It really is the absolute best way to feed them, they are so much healthier, no bad breath and they don't smell doggy cuddles are a pleasure to both the heart and the nose lol.

Just seen this thread
Living in deepest devon we have the hunt here and the hounds are only fed on horse meat that has been shot.

One of my best friends had a poorly horse it had a very poorly tummy and after many months at the vets it was decided nothing more could be done.
She had to decide how to put him to sleep, at the vets and he would have to sit there in the summer heat and await the knacker man to retrieve him knowing he was sat there.
Have him done at home and see him dead in the field again awaiting retrieval by the knacker man.
Or the Hunt.
She chose the hunt, took him down with her, he was placed in a stall, she said her goodbyes held his tether turned her back and the job was done.
He was fed to the hunt dogs.
I saw nothing wrong with her choice and it was by far the least heartbreaking choice to do.
As long as it is a bolt or bullet shot then I see nothing wrong with it. Recycle so to speak.
