I am Steve. I`m 43 & an ex-Paramedic. My family & I moved to Callington from the Midlands nearly 2 years ago, just after my dad died so`s we could be a bit closer to my mum who is in her 80`s & lives in Newquay. My wife is Michelle & we`ve 3 kids. Sam is 8, Hollie is nearly 5 & Jake is 19. Jake is still in the Midlands where he works for Iceland.
I`ve always had dogs, my folks had Irish Setters & Border Collies. I have had German Shepherds & Groenendaels, but Max is our first Husky-type dog. He`s a cross breed. His dad is a Siberian Husky & his mum is an Alaskan malamute. We got him when he was 4 months old & we`ve had him for 6 months now. He`s become a solid member of our family & is loved by all of us. My son, Sam, has built a real strong bond with Max & they are unseparable at home. He`s a highly intelligent dog but is a bit of a bugger when he`s off the lead.
Michelle met Paul up at Kit Hill today & he gave her a card with the details of this web-site. We didn`t know this site existed but already I can see that it will be invaluable in helping us learn all the right stuff needed to give Max the best time possible.
Look forward to "chewin` the fat" with you all,
Steve aka Swampy

Welcome to the forum!
First off i'll start how I always do, I want pics hehe!! can't get enough of them.
The huskies are a special dog, that's for sure....can't say i'd like to be without one now!
A husky misbehaving off leash....sounds like typical husky to me! It's for this reason (and many more) that it is highly recommended not to let your husky off leash unless in a secure location. There are some exceptions (dogs) to this rule, but they are usually few and far between.
well anyhow, I hope you enjoy this place!!

http://eskimohuskies...tyle_emoticons/default/Hello.gif A fellow Huskamute! :D Pics pics Please!!! :D
It is very recommended NOT to EVER let em off the lead.. they are runners... no amount of recall training can help when a husky, or huskamute has the urge to run! :D
that being said, WELCOME! Hope you enjoy it here as much as I do! :D

Great to have you here.
The forum has a lot of researched information. I really enjoy reading through it. It has been invaluable to me, hopefully it will be for yourself, Michelle & your Husky / Malamute
I too would love to know how much "a bit of a bugger" Max is

I`ve posted some pics in a gallery for you all to peruse. I hope they`re ok.
For those that asked about Max being a bugger off the lead....... Well, you probably already know what I`m going to say. We`ve got lots of fields by us & we sometimes let him off there. Sometimes he`s really good & doesn`t wander to far & either comes back when we call him, or just sits down & waits for us to catch up.
Other times he just runs off like a mad thing
From what I`ve heard it`s a common trait with Huskies/Malamutes. I gotta say though, he`s pretty good on the lead... after the first few minutes & he`s got over his excitement.
For us though, one of the funniest things is when he argues with us & when he does his howl... usually at 3am when he wants to go out for a pee. First time he did it my neighbour thought we had a wolf in the house.
It`s great that he settled in so quickly, he`s brilliant with our kids & so protective of them, he`s just a wonderful addition to our family... even if he does keep digging holes in my lawn!!!
Well take care all, will chat soon, & hopefully we`ll meet some of you if you are ever up Kit Hill.
Steve & Michelle
